The products ANKERGLAS SN 27 and SN 33 are spray-dried water glass grades with different SiO2/Na2O ratios. They consist of approx. 90 % sodium silicate and about 10 % binder additives, which are insoluble in water, acid and lye. These additives give the powder its characteristic light-grey colour with some black spots.
ANKERGLAS has been specially developed as a silicate binder for ceramics. The main application is in refractory gunning and centrifugal masses.
The binder additives adhere directly to the water glass particles and this results in improved technological properties in service. Compared to ordinary grades without additives, ANKERGLAS has proved to be very efficient due to its high rate of dissolution and unique adhesion properties in ceramic masses.
